The Maybank Championship 2024 will be held from October 24 to 27 at the prestigious West Course of Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC). This year's event offers more than just a display of elite Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) skills. The competition strives to symbolize unity, empowerment, and cultural diversity, offering attendees an engaging experience that combines sporting prowess with the diverse cultural heritage of ASEAN.
The lineup for the Maybank Championship 2024 is set to include a strong group of athletes, including defending champion Celine Boutier, 2023 runner-up Jeeno Thitikul, and standout players like Lilia Vu, Ruoning Yin, Ayaka Furue, and Jin Young Ko. Malaysian professionals Ashley Lau, Liyana Durisic, and Durriyah Damian, along with talented amateur Mirabel Ting, will also be representing their local pride, demonstrating determination and inspiring fans on home turf.
The tournament at The Maybank Village offers cultural and community activities for spectators, including the Maybank Women Eco-Weavers project empowering women in Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, and Malaysia through traditional textile weaving. Visitors can watch live demonstrations, join workshops, view artwork by differently-abled artists, enjoy beverages from the Autisme Café, and participate in the Bracelet DIY Workshop for a creative and family-friendly experience.
On October 26th, a day of unity is dedicated to supporting the Heart2Heart cause, providing treatments for pediatric heart patients in the ASEAN Community. Spectators and athletes are encouraged to wear yellow to show their support. Heart2Heart installations at the event, including a structure near Hole 15 and a mobile unit, raise awareness and offer ways for spectators to contribute. An information board and QR code at the site facilitate donations, while a booth in the Maybank Village allows visitors to write encouraging letters, emphasizing the power of small gestures.
The championship encourages attendees to participate actively. From virtual cycling in the Maybank Cycling Series to trying out the latest golfing tech in Maybank Virtual Golf with BigShot Entertainment and Events Space, and even taking part in the Maybank Marathon Bali treadmill challenge, there's something for everyone to challenge themselves. The Maybank Championship offers activities for all ages. The MAE Kids’ Zone for young kids, including exploring Maryam's artwork, an artist with Down syndrome. The Reach Independence & Sustainable Entrepreneurship (R.I.S.E.) program demonstrates Maybank's support for people with disabilities to achieve economic independence, benefiting over 39,000 participants in Southeast Asia by providing essential skills for entrepreneurial success.
The Maybank Championship focuses on sustainability with a recyclable Tiger Sculpture symbolizing environmental responsibility. Visitors at the Etiqa booth can play the 'Drive Less Save More' game, learn about Etiqa+, and redeem TreatsPoints for insurance or Takaful products. The Sama-Sama Lokal Bistro promotes cashless transactions using the MAE app or Maybank Cards for an eco-friendly dining experience.
