Fondation L’Oréal’s Beauty For A Better Life (BFBL) is an initiative collaboration between L’Oréal Malaysia and WOMEN:girls, a Malaysian non-prfit organization. This program has played a pivotal role in fostering positive transformations of more than 249 underprivileged women in Malaysia. In 2024, 53 new participants were welcomed into the program with the goal of training women in hairdressing and makeup artistry, providing them with valuable skills for sustainable career opportunities.
Since its launched in Malaysia in 2016, the initiative has broadened its scope by setting up additional training facilities, enhancing instructor training, conducting motivational workshops, organizing masterclasses in collaboration with L’Oréal Professionnel and L’Oréal Paris, and providing assistance with job placements. Now in its eighth year, BFBL has become a beacon of hope and empowerment for many Malaysian women facing financial and social challenges. The programme’s impact is not only evidenced by the number of graduates but by its remarkable 90% employment rate within three months of graduation.
Tomas Hruska, the Managing Director of L’Oréal Malaysia, Low Ngai Yuen, Founding President of WOMEN:girls, and Izza Izelan, the Executive Director of WOMEN:girls, were present at the recent graduation ceremony.
Tomas Hruska, the Managing Director of L’Oréal Malaysia commended the program's significant impact. “Beauty For A Better Life represents our long-term mission at L’Oréal Malaysia to help individuals make meaningful breakthroughs in their lives. We are immensely proud to empower this new class of graduates, who we believe will serve as beacons of inspiration in their communities through the skills they have developed here.”
Hruska also highlighted their partnership with WOMEN:girls “Our collaboration with WOMEN:girls has been integral to this programme's success. Seeing the passion and dedication of these graduates inspires us all. We hope their journeys as beauty entrepreneurs will demonstrate to others the power they hold to transform their lives and communities.”
WOMEN:girls, Executive Director Izza Izelan emphasized the impact of the programme. “The progress we’ve seen among participants is inspiring. Many have not only developed professional skills but have also grown in confidence,” she said. “This year, we also saw some of the impact coming back into the programme with one of our past participants contributing as Educator. At WOMEN:girls, we believe in education’s power to create lasting societal change, and BFBL exemplifies this commitment.”
